Counting without singing: text mining in Joaquín Sabina’s songs

Abstract

This work explores the contribution of Digital Humanities methods to the analysis of Joaquín Sabina’s songbook, using text mining techniques. Based on a corpus of 80 selected songs, lexical and semantic analyses are carried out, revealing recurring themes suchs as love and interpersonal relationships. The results include the generation of word clouds, dendograms and correlational diagrams, highlighting a rich lexical diversity in the lyrics. Furthermore, the use of hierarchical clustering allowed us to identify key thematic patterns in Sabina’s songs, providing a new perspective on his work.
