Abstract

This manuscript proposes a critical reflection on the consequences of reputation as a construct, from a social sciences and humanities approach. The main organizational, economic, psychological, and behavioral consequences are explored. Additionally, the role of perceptions in the reputational construct is reviewed and discussed, as well as the dynamics of language, deeds, and dependent and independent elements in the definition of reputation. Finally, an exhortation is made to address this issue of significant social relevance from a philosophical perspective.
