Corpographies of horror: the case of The Blair Witch Project

Abstract

This text analyzes the movie The Blair Witch Project as a corpography of horror, considering that fear is constructed through corporeality, technology and the local imaginary surrounding the afore mentioned witch. Likewise, the analysis focuses on the absence/presence dichotomy of this supernatural figure; also the view of the forest as a corporeal map and explore the notion of found footage and mockumentary (faux documentary). Finally, the text examines Heather’s transformation into a cyborg entity; this occurs when she takes ownership of camera’s operation. This is intended to highlight the monstrous hybridization that results from the fusion of human with technology.
