Abstract
The present text reflects on an emerging youth culture, the otakus, in the south of Mexico, specifically in the capital city of Chiapas, Tuxtla Gutiérrez. The characteristics and discourses emanating from a body studies perspective are analyzed and how such discourses make sense in a global and local context.
